10 Fun and Free Date Ideas

Drinks, dinner, movie plus a taxi to take you home. That’s a lot of money. Have you ever made these calculations in your head and frustratingly had to cancel or postpone a date under false pretences? We’ve all been there. We always think that we have to spend a lot of money to have a good. Fortunately, that is not the case and there are many things that are fun and free to do!

We’ve gathered 10 fun and free date ideas for you:

1. A walk to remember…in the park

And why not? Parks are so romantic, whether it’s a warm summer evening or a beautiful autumn day. If it’s a nice summer day you can have a great picnic and if it rains, you can both get cosy together under the umbrella for a long walk.

2. Night and day at the museum

Most museums are free and they offer great material for discussion. Some even hold free events or photography exhibits, if you are both into cultural events.

3. Board games

Why not invite your date for an evening of fun and games? You can both decide on one game you like that can make you both laugh (Cards Against Humanity) or discover if your partner is clever with finances (Monopoly).

4. Cooking at home

Whether you like or you don’t like cooking, trying to bake or cook something together is quite fun even if the result is an inedible sloppy cake or an extra salty plate of spaghetti.

5. Bike ride

Staying healthy, burning those calories and enjoying a flirtatious fun time. What’s not to love?

6. Take a hike

Up on the mountains, over the hills, this is a great way enjoy the views, talk about your childhood or fun times in your life.

7. Vamos a la playa (beach)

You could have a nice picnic, take a swim or take a long stroll on the beach, whether it’s summer or autumn. Isn’t it romantic?

8. Dance course

Yes, we know those cost money, however most courses offer a free taster so why not take your date to a fun bachata or ‘90s dance course? Ole!

9. Sports

Not everyone is into sports and some people love extreme ones while others enjoy light easy sports. Certainly you won’t want to go skydiving or wrestling on a first date, but you can do something more accessible and free like playing Frisbee in the park or a bit of badminton for a few laughs.

10. Free Concerts

You might not find free tickets for a Rolling Stones concert, but during summers there are always free concerts going on in parks or stadiums.

Enjoy your date – and let us know if you’ve tried any of the suggestions.
